![]() ![]() This shouldn’t really be a surprise seeing as the studio making it has been formed by some ex-COD alumni, such as Ex-Infinity Ward Executive Producer, Mark Rubin. Blimey, that sounds like a lot of work.ĭespite some differences which I’ll go into later, when it comes to gameplay feel and speed, XDefiant really does nail that COD-like vibe down to a tee. Each new season will include a new faction and characters, new maps, new weapons, new events, new cosmetics and a new battle pass. ![]() XDefiant will be free to play on launch, it will be crossplay between all platforms (although console players will not be matched with M&KB players unless they are in a cross platform party with friends) and it’s a free to play game that will introduce a new each season every three months. Xdefiant is a purely PvP, 6v6, FPS game that features five playable Factions that have been pilfered from across Ubisoft universe. There's 15 minutes worth of footage in the video, which shows off XDefiant's Faction-on-Faction action across a handful of the game's multiplayer modes and maps, so pop it on and stare in wonder at my below average FPS skills! When three Factions go to warįor those of you who hate video though (at least play it on silent while you read and keep me in a job, you monsters!), I've distilled the video script into a few paragraphs which you can find below, and these will give you a good idea of how the closed beta handles and what you can expect to see in it.įirst up, let’s cover the basics. XDefiant is headed to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with the PS4 and Xbox One versions incoming at a later date. The closed beta for Ubisoft’s Call of Duty clone-alike XDefiant has just gone live and you beta believe I’ve already had the chance to examine the game! In my preview video above, you can expect to see PC gameplay that I captured during an hour long hands-on session as I talk about 13 ways that XDefiant aims to improve on Call of Duty's multiplayer. Good news all around, right? Hopefully, a proper release date is revealed soon. Still a lot of work to get to final.įinally, a fan asked Rubin about the headshot symbol being present in the killfeed and this has been confirmed to be something the dev team missed and it will be added. On to the gameplay side of things, Rubin confirmed that one-life modes (like Search & Destroy) is indeed incoming, though there is a “lot of work” to get it to its final iteration. Most games fail the first sub and even the second sub often has a list of must fixes for a day 1 patch. Rubin confirmed that failing is part of the release schedule, as most games fail its first and even second submission. Offering more insight to the development process, a fan asked Rubin what happens if the game fails its certification. Although we are still on track we won’t really know until we get reports back from 1st parties on our submission.Ĭonfused what a “first-party” is? Rubin clarified to a fan that it is, in fact, the platform holders. Nothing is changed on our anticipated release time frame. □Īlso, this is just an update on the process. Normally, a game would already be certing when the beta goes……live, but we used our beta as a real test to make the game better. Also, I know it’s been some time since our beta already and I know usually that means launch is soon after but for us as we’ve done in the past our betas are real tests and not marketing moments. Don’t worry, as soon as I have more info……I will share it. We are in the process of getting approved by 1st parties, but because this is our first time getting this version of the engine through cert, it’s going to take a bit longer than usual. Quick insight into what’s going on right now. Don’t worry, as soon as I have more info…įor the sake of an easier read, we’ve compiled the entire tweet chain below. ![]() ![]() It’s just a matter now of getting approved by first-party platform holders for certifcation. Over on Twitter, Producer Mark Rubin announced that the XDefiant release is “still on track” and “nothing has changed” on that front. The dev team has issued a new announcement regarding the XDefiant release window, and it’s good news. While Ubisoft has already announced that XDefiant is set for release sometime in “summer,” we still haven’t heard anything about when it will exactly be out. ![]()
